Re: Statutory Planning, letter of support, planning permit application DSD/559/2020
I am writing to voice my support for the proposed development at 32 Forest Street, Bendigo. I believe that the approval of the proposed development will enable the City of Greater Bendigo to demonstrate to its existing and future residents that it prioritises fossil-fuel free, community driven development.
The Planning Scheme and best practice planning seeks to ensure that as our communities change and evolve we are able to address the needs of both current and future residents. I believe that this proposal appropriately responds to the existing site context and will result in significant improvement. As a resident of Bendigo I would like to see more homes that provide communal spaces, focus on the facilitation of building communities and use materials that will age well within the existing site context.
I believe that this development will make a positive contribution to the eclectic and diverse environment of Bendigo, adding true diversity of housing choices to Bendigo’s current stock. It is a chance for City of Greater Bendigo to have an exemplar they can point to, when encouraging other developers to do the right thing. I encourage the City of Greater Bendigo to support this development.
Over the coming decades, inspired design such as this will serve as an enduring community asset and investment in social cohesion and environmental sustainability. To this end, I strongly encourage the City of Greater Bendigo to support this incredible project.
