“I've always quite enjoyed work but now I find myself longing for the weekend so we can head down and chill.”
St Andrews Beach, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, has no shopping strip and no restaurants. There’s a corner shop and not much else. What it does offer is serenity and seclusion, a wildly beautiful coastline, and some of the most celebrated architecture in Australia.
Just over an hours drive from Melbourne’s city centre, St Andrews is one of the few locations in Australia where construction is permitted right on the foreshore. Architects are consequently inspired by the lack of government restrictions, as well the grassy hills, rock pools and rugged sand dunes. There are some outstanding houses here.
